Lincoln Railway Station war memorial takes the form of a white stone plaque with incised black lettering, inset in surround of darker stone, on the wall of the main station building, on the platform side, in the Central Station, St Margaret's Street, Lincoln. Beneath it is a brass plaque recording that the memorial was originally at Lincoln St Marks Station (now closed), and was moved to its present site and rededicated on 5th May 1985 by the Bishop of Lincoln, it was originally unveiled 29th May 1921 when the station was part of the Midland Railway. There are eleven names listed for World War 1 only. The names were listed by department on the memorial but have been sorted here into alphabetical order for ease fo reading and research.

AYRES	Joseph Edward	Private 10484, 2nd Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 1st July 1916. Aged 32. Born Rugby, enlisted Lincoln. Son of John Alfred and Emily Ayres. Goods Dept. Number Taker/Checker for Midland Railway. Admitted to the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants as a Railway Worker in the Lincoln Branch, aged 28, in 1911. Buried in BLIGHTY VALLEY CEMETERY, AUTHUILE WOOD, Somme France. Plot V. Row J. Grave 29. See also Lincoln Memorial and Lincoln All Saints.
CODLING	Albert	[Listed as Private on SDGW] Lance Corporal 1608, 1st/4th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Died of wounds 16th October 1915 [according to SDGW] or 13th May 1915 [CWGC and Lincoln Roll of Honour]. Born 15th December 1892, 51 King Street, Lincoln, and enlisted Lincoln. Son of Mr. J. Codling, of 3, Wood View, Bourne, Lincs; orginally of Turk's Head Cottage, Cecil Street, Lincoln. Umarried. Drayman at Midland Railway. Roll of Honour details signed by Gertrude Codling of Turks Head Cottage. Buried in LINDENHOEK CHALET MILITARY CEMETERY, Heuvelland, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. PLot I. Row C. Grave 14. COLE	Cyril	Lance Corporal WR/175933, 40th Railway Operating Company, Royal Engineers. Died of wounds 14th August 1918. Aged 21. Born Fulham, Middlesex, enlisted Lincoln. Formerly S/8670, Seaforth Highlanders. Nephew and adopted son of John and Lucy Stourton, of Lincoln. Porter at Midland Railway. Buried in LIGNY-ST. HIND	John	Private 632622, 20th (County of London) Battalion (Blackheath and Woolwich), London Regiment. Killed in action 14th September 1918. Born Branbridge Heath, Lincoln, resident and enlisted Lincoln. Coalman at Midland Railway. Loco Dept. Formerly 1114, Royal Army Medical Corps. No known grave. Commemorate don VIS-EN-ARTOIS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Panel 10.
HOLLOWAY	Frank	Not found in CWGC, but according to Lincoln Book of Memory was Private 409117, 8th North Staffordshire Regiment, died 24th March 1918 aged 21. Not listed on the Medal Cards. Parcels Porter at Midland Railway. Passenger Dept. Admitted to National Union of Railwaymen in 1915 as a Parcel Porter, Railway Workers, Lincoln Branch, aged 21. In the 1911 census he was aged 16, born Lincoln, a Railway Porter, resident with his widowed mother, Annie Holloway, at 12 Ab Monson Street, Lincoln, Lincolnshire. See also Lincoln Memorial.
HOLLOWAY	George	Gunner 122803, 172nd Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery [Royal Field Artillery in Roll of Honour book]. Killed in action 24th September 1917. Born St. Peter's, Lincoln, enlisted Lincoln. Buried in PERTH CEMETERY (CHINA WALL), Ieper, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Plot I. Row G. Grave 5. See also Lincoln Memorial.
KERSHAW	Robert William	Private 27257, 1st Battalion, King's Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment). Died of wounds 20th October 1916. Aged 19. Enlisted Lincoln. Son of Helen Smith (formerly Kershaw), of 52, Foster St., Lincoln, and the late Richard Kershaw. Parcels Porter with Midland Railway. Passenger Dept. Admitted to National Union of Railwaymen, aged 16, 1914, Railway Workers, Lincoln Branch, as a Parcels Delivery Porter, Midland Railway. Buried in GROVE TOWN CEMETERY, MEAULTE. Somme, France. Plot I. SANDERS	Percy William	Sapper 266970, Royal Engineers. His medal card gives him as Gunner 23419, Royal Field Artillery, 248054, Royal Engineers and WR/266970, Royal Engineers. Goods Dept. He was entitled to the Victory Medal. cannot locate on CWGC or SDGW. According to Lincoln Book of Memory was Sapper 266970, Royal Engineers, who died 16th May 1920. Aged 31. In the 1911 census he was aged 22, born Osmaston, Derbyshire, a Goods Porter with the Midland Railway, lodging at 28 Gaunt Street, Lincoln, Lincolnshire. See also Lincoln Memorial.
SMITH	George William	Private 2552, 1st/4th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 13th October 1915. Aged 22. Born and resident Lincoln, enlisted Luton, Bedfordshire. Son of Mr. and Mrs. H. V. W. Smith, of 7, Reservoir St., Westgate, Lincoln. Coalman with Midland Railway. Loco Dept. No known grave. Commemorated on LOOS MEMORIAl, Pas de Calais, France. WHITELAM	Joseph	Private 49605, 10th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 17th April 1918. Aged 19. Born and enlisted Lincoln. Son of George and Elizabeth Whitelam, of 54, St. Catherine's Grove, Lincoln. Passenger Dept. Admitted to National Union of Railwaymen in 1916, aged 17, Railway Workers, Lincoln Branch, Lamp P/W.
