News has been received by Mr. and Mrs. E. Ward, of the Four Horse Shoes, Throckenholt, that their 21-year-old nephew, Pilot Officer Adrian Fennell, is missing.

He joined the Royal Air Force prior to the outbreak of war, and had rapid promotion; in 1941, while a Flight-Sergeant, he was mentioned in despatches for gallant and distinguished conduct.

On leave he never failed to visit the Payne School, Parson Drove, where he was educated, and where he was held in high esteem by the headmaster, staff and pupils, who all hope that Mr. and Mrs. Ward will shortly hear better news.

Sad News of Sutton ST. Edmund
Airman

Mr. and Mrs. P. Long, of Broad Gate-road, Sutton St. Edmund, have received the grievous news that their 20-year-old only son, L/Ac. Eric John Long. of the Royal Air Force, was killed in a flying accident at Minneriya, Ceylon, on June 9th.

L/Ac. Long joined the R.A.F. in July, 1943, as an electrician. He was drafted to Ceylon in October, 1944, and has been on flights to Burma. Before joining the Services he was employed for about four-and-a-half years in Messrs. Fell's wireless department. He was also a member of the Wisbech A.R.P. Service.

This young airman was formerly a regular Sunday School attendant at Sutton St. Edmund, where a memorial service will be held in the Methodist Chapel on Sunday.
