His birth was registered in the october to December Quarter 1890 in the Mutford Registration District under the name Albert Bertie H Yallop. In the 1901 census he was aged 10, son of James and Harriet Yallop, born Lowestoft, resident 2 Surgeon's Score, Christchurch, Lowestoft with 3 sisters and 2 brothers. In the 1911 census he is aged 20, unmarried, son of James and Harriet, a Coal Merchant, born Lowestoft, Suffolk, resident 27 Beccles Road, Lowestoft with 4 brothers and two sisters. In the April to June Quarter 1914 he is registered in the Mutford Registration District, Suffolk, as marrying Agnes Sarah Stanton (his name is given as Albert B H Yallop); resident 72 Crown Street, Lowestoft. They had a son, Jack Henry Stanton Yallop, born 6 April 1915 in Lowestoft. The British Army Service Record gives the date of marriage as 21 June 1914 in St Margaret's Church, Lowestoft at which time he was with the Royal Garrison Artillery. In December 1915 Albert, aged 25, signed up for military service, and on 18 May 1916 he was at Fort Burgoyne, Dover, with the Royal Garrison Artillery Corps. His brother William Hayward Yallop was in the Royal Naval Reserve (born 6 April 1886 in Lowestoft). His short service record contains the following service details. Enlisted as 82481, Royal Garrison Artillery. Resident 72 Crown Street, Lowestoft. Coal Merchant by trade. Married. Enlisted 10 December 1915 at Lowestoft, sent to the Army Reserve as a Private 11 December 1915, mobilized 15 May 1916, posted as a Gunner to No 1 Depot 15 May 1916, posted to Dover Garrison 27 May 1916, posted to 144 Siege Battery 6 June then admitted to Field Hospital 14 May 1917, discharged to Base 17 June 1917, joined 180 Siege Battery from base 25 June 1917 where he was killed in action 29 April 1918. He was entitled to the British War Service and Victory Medals. |

He was born in Kirkley, Lowestoft, Suffolk on the 4th September
1900, his father was William James Youngman, living 5 Grosvenor
Road, South Lowestoft at the time of his death and his mother was
Lilian (known as Lily) Mary, living 18 John Street, South Lowestoft
at the time of his death. He had a younger sister called Irene Vera
YOUNGMAN, born in 1907. Buried in LOWESTOFT (KIRKLEY) CEMETERY,
Suffolk. Plot/Row/Section Y. Grave 35.
