BRITTAIN Sidney Harold

Civilian. Died on 25th February 1941 aged 50 years. Husband of Phyllis Edith Brittain of Castle Street. Injured 24th February 1941 at Hills Road, died at Addenbrookes Hospital. He was injured during a German Bombing on Hills Road Cambridge. He is buried at Cambridge Municpal Borough, UK. See also Cambridge St. Paul's

TO MANY
Death of MR. S.H. Brittain

MANY residents in the neighbourhood of Castle Street and Huntingdon Road will have learned with deep regret of the sudden death this week of a well-known figure, Mr. Sidney Harold Brittain, of 80, Castle Street, Cambridge.

Fifty years of age, Mr. Brittain was a native of the town. He had been engaged in the fruitery and greengrocery trade from his school-days until the time of his death, with the exception of the period of the last war, he served in the A.S.C. throughout.

Although his business left him little time for leisure, he was a keen follower of local sport, and will be missed by a wide circle of friends.

He leaves a widow and two daughters.

The funeral service will be at 2.15 p.m. at St. Giles’ Church, Castle Hill, on Monday next. March 3rd, and the interment at Huntingdon Road Cemetery.

Civilian. National Fire Service(N.F.S). Died on 20th September 1944 aged 36 years. Son of Mr. and Mrs. H, Cornell of 1 Derby Road, Cherrhinton Road; husband of E.C. Cornell of 51 Bateman Road. Injured at N.F.S. Station, Victoria Road, died at 51 Bateman Road. He is buried at Cambridge Municipal Cemetery, UK.
CROWSON George Albert
Civilian. Died on 15th October 1940 aged 42 years. A.I.M.E.E. of 19 Barrow Road. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Crowson, of Wayside, Streatley-on-Thames, Berkshire; husband of Christine Mary Crowson of 19 Barrow Road. He is buried at Cambridge Municipal Borough. UK.

Lance Corporal, 5832552, 1st Battalion, Cambridgeshire Regiment. Died from cardiac arrest on 17th June 1943 aged 29 years. Civilian. Died on 15th July 1940 aged 76 years. Of 96 Earls Avenue, Prittlewell, Southend-On-Sea, Essex. Husband of Mary Eaton. Injured on 18th June 1940 at 96 Earls Avenue, died at Addenbrookes' Hsoptial. He is bured at Cambridge Municipal Borough, UK.
GOODWIN Frank
Civilian. Died on 4th September 1941 aged 21 years old. Home Guard. Son of R. J. Goodwin and M. Goodwin of 8 Council Houses, West Wickham, Kent. Injured on 3rd September 1941; died at Addenbrookes' Hospital. He is buried at Cambridge Municipal Borough, UK.
GURNER Leonard George (George Leonard)
Private, 5832627, 4th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Died on 15th February 1942 aged 28 years. He was born George Leonard Gurner. Son of William and Louisa Garner. No known grave. He is commemorated at Singapore Memorial, Column 55. Singapore.
HAGGER Frederick John
Civilian. Died on 11th August 1944 aged 70 years. Son of the late Alfred and Eliza Hagger of Bury Hall, Therfield, Hertfordshire; husband of Louisa Hagger of 33 Northview Road, Hornsey, Middlesex. Injured on 29th July 1944 at Northview Road; died at Addebrookes' Hospital . He is buried at Cambridge Municipal Borough, UK.

Civilian. Died on 3td March 1944 aged 22 years. Civilian Aero Engineer, R.A.F. Daughter of C. H. and Dorothy M. Kemp of 24 Storey's Way. Died at Cambridge whilst on a test flight. She is buried at Cambridge Municipal Borough, UK.

Our photograph is of Pte. Roy Still, of the Northamptonshire Regiment, who lived at 299, Ditton Fields. He was posted missing while on defence work for the Merchant Navy. He was educated at Romsey School and was associated with St. Philip’s Sunday, school.
