| A CAWTHORN | Bombardier | 17623 Bombardier, Royal Field Artillery died of disease on 19 April 1902 at Elandsfontein while serving with the 27th Mounted Infantry. | 
| James CHASE | Hon. Lt and Qtr. Master | 1st Battalion, Scots Guards. Died of disease, Modder River, 3rd February 1900, age 41. Born July 1858, Warrant Officer for 6 years and obtained his commission in the Scots Guards in May 1891. Served in Egyptian Expedition 1882 (medal and bar, Khedives (bronze) star), present at the action at Mahuta, and the battle of Tel-el-Kebir. Accompanied his battalion to South Africa in October 1899 and served with it up to the time of his death. Buried in Ely Cemetery, Cambridgeshire.
