The memorial is located on Platform 1, Derby Midland Railway Station, Litchurch, Derby. It takes the form of a nowy-headed brass plaque originally surrounded by green faience tiles but now with a wooden frame, situated on a brick wall of Platform 1. The plaque has a raised narrow border with the Wyvern crest of the Midland Railway in relief at the head. The commemoration is in a frieze at the head and the names are in four panels below. The inscription is in raised upright capital lettering polished to contrast the metallic colour against the black painted stippled ground. The frame is of plain flat wood, painted white. There are 67 names listed by surname and military details but there are no surnames or initials. The names here have been sorted into alphabetical order within section for ease of reading and research.
