Died of gallstones 1st February 1916 aboard HM Hospital Ship Dover Castle, buried at sea. Parentage unknown. Husband of Katie Bush (nee Hibbs) of Victoria Place, Brightlingsea. Killed in action 9th May 1919 (crewing Bristol Fighter F4838 ditched in sea, believed due engine problem. Crew drowned). Son of Revd John Lewis and Ellen Evans (nee Hall) of 28 Victoria Place, Brightlingsea. Born 19th November 1897 Brightlingsea. Commemorated Springfield (Holy Trinity) Churchyard. Note: one of three ferry pilots from France to England in aircraft designed as two seat aircraft, believed not pilot. No survivors.

Husband of Laura M Frances (formerly Smith, later wife of George H Hendrick). Appears accidental death 11th February 1916 aboard SS Fort Matarazzo, no trace CWGC and commemoration unknown.

FRENCH	Harry	Second Mate, Mercantile Marine. S S Santa Amalia (defensively armed merchant vessel, sunk by German submarine U-19). Killed in action 28th December 1917. Son of Mark and Rosa French (nee Everett). Husband of Grace French (nee Turpin) of 1 Western Road, Brightlingsea. Born 1883 Brightlingsea (as census). Commemorated Tower Hill Memorial.

Parentage, age and birth place unknown (not identified any civil record). Enlisted Colchester and resident Kelvedon. Commemorated Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. Panel 51 and 53. Note: Soldiers Effects possibly names mother as Jane Smith (difficult to read).

Civil death appears recorded 1915, possibly war related and therefore on memorial? Commemoration unknown.
