ROLL OF HONOUR

Capt. John Norton Lowe, killed in action in Burma, on Oct. 9th, was the elder son of Capt. A. E. and the late Mrs. Lowe, of The Orchard, Orton Longueville, Peterborough, and grandson of Mr. J. Norton Scorer, of Fletton-av. He was educated at Kimbolton School, and served his articles as a solicitor with Messrs. R. Y. Norris and Sons, of Priestgate. On the completion of his examinations he went to Messrs. Elwes Turner and Smith, solicitors, of Colchester.

Capt. Lowe joined up immediately on the outbreak of war, with the Territorials, and was commissioned with the Essex Regt. in 1941, and served with the 2nd Bn. until 1943, when he went to British West Africa. After about three months there, he was sent to India, and from thence to Burma where he was serving with the 4th Bn., Nigeria Regt.

Capt. Lowe was well-known and very popular in Peterborough and district. He was a keen member of the Peterborough Debating Society, and an enthusiastic player at the Peterboruugh Tennis Club. His many friends will learn of his death at the early age of 30 with great sorrow.
