Royal West Kent Regiment. He was born 1891 in Tunbridge Wells, the
son of Alexander Reffell and Lucy Maria Reffell (nee Vinall) and
was baptised at the Holy Trinity May 31, 1891. He was the fourth
if five brothers, three of who died in childhood. The other surviving
brother was Arthur Sidney Reffell. In 1911 George was living at
Eltham, Kent and working for the South Eastern & Chatham Railway
as a railway number taker, George married Amy Brimley in 1914 at
Maidstone. When George died, Amy was living at Marshall’s Cottages
in Maidstone, where she had to bring up her young son who was born
in 1916. George was killed in action Friday March 30, 1917, age
26. George is recorded at the Bully-Grenay Communal Cemetery in
France (Grave I D 8). George was a resident of Farleigh, Kent at
the time he enlisted at Tonbridge. |
