H.M.S. MONARCH

HMS "Monarch" built as a super-dreadnought of her time, the great battleship seen here passing down the Tyne. Construction was completed in April 1912, she being one of four super-dreadnoughts of her time, part of he Orion Class. Fitted with ten 13.5 inch huns, sixteen 4 inch guns, four 3-pounders, and three torpedo tubes. During her trial voyages she reached a speed of 21.88 knots.
