Church stanton was originally in Devon but was transferred to Somerset in 1896. Within the Church of S.S. Peter and Paul in Churchstanton are memorials to those from World War 1 in the form of a brass plaque, plaque to those who died in World War 2 and a Roll of Honour for Churchstanton. There are fifteen names for those who died in World War 1, four names for those who died in World War 2 and forty-four names listed on the Roll of Honour. Note: The names have been sorted into alphabetical order within conflict foir ease of reading and research whereas the names on the memorial are in the order they are listed, rank and arm of service in bold as memorial.

CROSS	H L	Private. Artillery Volunteer Corps. Henry Lewis Cross. Gunner 174056. Base Detail, Royal Garrison Artillery. Died 6th November 1918. Son of Robert and Theresa Ann Cross (nee Knight). Husband of Beatrice Elizabeth Jane Cross (nee Lee, now wife of John G Higgins). Born 1884 Churchstanton and enlisted Taunton. Commemorated Ste Marie Cemetery. Div 62.II.J.4.

FOXWELL	C	Private. Devonshire Regiment. Charles Foxwell. Private 11778. 8th Battalion, Devonshire Regiment. Killed in action 25th September 1915. Son of Solomon and Mary Ann Foxwell (nee Ackland). Born 1894 Churchstanton, enlisted Exeter and resident Honiton DEV. Commemorated Loos Memorial. Panel 35 to 37.

Son of Sir John Paget and Mabel Richardson Mellor (nee Pearce-Serocold). Born 1897 London, baptised Churchstanton 1897. Commemorated Churchstanton (St Paul) Churchyard.
MOORE	W	Sergeant. Welsh Regiment. William Moore. Corporal 2270. 5th Battalion, Welsh Regiment. Killed in action Gallipoli 26th September 1915. Son of James and Martha Moore (nee Hayes). Husband of Eliza Jane Moore (nee Belcher). Born 1871 Churchstanton and enlisted Pontypridd, Wales. Commemorated Helles Memorial. Panel 140 to 144. Note: previous Grenadier Guards, served in Sudan and South African Campaign.

PHILIPS	Maud E	Maud Emily Phillips. Subaltern 270810. Auxiliary Territorial Service. Died 7th October 1943. Daughter of Morris George and Maud Emily Duke (nee Jordan). Wife of Lieutenant Colonel James Wilfred Phillips (now husband of Penelope Ellison Phillips [nee Otto]) of Burnworthy Manor, Churchstanton [as probate]). Born 1903 Eastbourne SSX. Commemorated Heliopolis War Cemetery. 5.M.14.
RUXTON	Anthony Fane	Military Cross. Captain. 2nd Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles and 3 Commando. Died 14th July 1943, aged 23 years. Son of Charles Harcourt Vernon and Phyllis Maitland Ruxton (nee Wood) of Waterrow. Born South Africa. Commemorated Syracuse War Cemetery. VII.D.13.
