The Hitcham War Memorial is locatedoutside of St Mary's Church, Hicham Lane, Hitcham. It is situated by the roadside and takes the form of a Latin cross on a plinth and a three-stepped base. There are 25 names for World War 1 and 7 names for World War 2.

BROWN	Victor M	Victor Mark Brown. Private 32650. 5th Battalion, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, formerly 6344 Buffs (East Kent Regiment). Killed in action 4th October 1917. Son of William Morris and Emma Brown (nee Shulver). Born 1890 Groton, enlisted Bildeston and resident Hitcham. Commemorated Tyne Cot Memorial. Panel 23 to 28.
BARTON	Stanley A R	Stanley Arthur Risby Barton. Private 35429. 12/13th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers, formerly 2648 Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action 3rd October 1917. Son of Joseph and Julia Alice Barton (nee Hoddy). Born 1898 Hitcham and enlisted Bury St Edmunds. Commemorated Tyne Cot Cemetery. XLVI.G.13.
BARTON	Sidney A	Sidney Arthur Barton. Private 43730. 14th Battalion, Machine Gun Corps (Infantry), formerly 2644 Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action 21st March 1918. Son of Frederick and Kate Louisa Barton (nee Smith). Born 1896 Hitcham and enlisted Bury St Edmunds. Commemorated Pozieres Memorial. Panel 90 to 93.
BOLTON	Charles J	Charles John Bolton. Private 34624. 11th Battalion, Essex Regiment, formerly 28078 Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action 24th June 1917. Son of William and Ellen Bolton (nee Laflin). Born 1886 Ringshall, enlisted Ipswich and resident Hitcham. Commemorated Philosophe British Cemetery. II.R.8.
BRETT	Frederick	Private 202494. 2nd Battalion, Royal Berkshire Regiment, formerly 2647 Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action 27th April 1918. Son of William and Mary Ann Brett (nee Green). Born 1879 Hitcham and enlisted Bury St Edmunds. Commemorated Pozieres Memorial. Panel 56 and 57.
COBBOLD	Robert H W	Robert Henry Wanklyn Cobbold. Lieutenant. 6th Battalion, Rifle Brigade, attached 2nd Battalion. Killed in action 9th September 1915. Son of Rev. Robert Russell and Mary Elizabeth Cobbold (nee Wanklyn). Born 3rd December 1892 Earls Barton NTH and commissioned 7th November 1914, entering France 13th May 1915. Commemorated Y Farm Military Cemetery. M.36.
COBBOLD	Edgar F W	Edgar Francis Wanklyn Cobbold. Lieutenant (Pilot). 7th Battalion, Cheshire Regiment, attached 16 Squadron, Royal Flying Corps. Killed in action 12th January 1916 (piloting BE2c aircraft 1712, shot down by anti-aircraft fire. Both occupants killed). Son of Rev. Robert Russell and Mary Elizabeth Cobbold (nee Wanklyn). Born 5th November 1895 Earls Barton NTH and enlisted (Territorial, Cheshire Regiment) 25th March 1914. Commemorated Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery. XVI.A.16.
COBBOLD	Harry	Private 27248. 7th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers. Died of wounds 28th February 1917. Son of Horace and Eliza Cobbold (nee Bugg). Born 1895 Milden, enlisted Stowmarket and resident Hitcham. Commemorated Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension. V.D.15.
CRICK	Frederick D R	Frederick Daniel R Crick. Private 2698. 5th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action Gallipoli 21st August 1915. Son of Ann Maria Crick (later wife of Robert Knock). Born 1890 Cockfield and enlisted Bury St Edmunds. Commemorated Helles Memorial. Panel 46 to 47.
DICKERSON	John	John William Dickerson. Private 43874. 9th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Died of wounds 1st November 1917. Son of John and Ellen Dickerson (nee Rush). Born 1883 Hitcham and enlisted Bildeston. Commemorated Noeux-Les-Mines Communal Cemetery Extension. III.A.9.

EDWARDS	George	George Ernest Edwards. Lance Corporal 36933. 1st Battalion, Norfolk Regiment. Killed in action 27th September 1918. Son of George and Clara Edwards (nee Edwards). Born 1899 Hitcham and enlisted Ipswich. Commemorated Lebucquire Communal Cemetery Extension. III.C.25. Note: Soldiers Effects has father as Frederick G Edwards, appears mistake.
GREEN	Harry	Shoeing Smith 889557. 155th Brigade Ammunition Column, Royal Field Artillery. Died 28th March 1918. Son of George and Mary Ann Green (nee Knock). Born 1890 Hitcham. Commemorated Wattisham Baptist Churchyard.
FAIRWEATHER	Percy R	Percy Reeve Fairweather. Private 1564. 5th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action Gallipoli 12th August 1915. Son of Henry and Annie Eliza Fairweather (nee Hammond). Born 10th January 1895 Hitcham and enlisted Bildeston (enlisted Territorial Service October 1912). Commemorated Helles Memorial. Panel 46 and 47.
FISHER	William	Believed Frank William Fisher as 1879 birth record but unverified, William Fisher all other records. Private 16995. 34th Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, transferred to 60355 Labour Corps. Died of wounds 18th May 1918. Son of Elizabeth Fisher (later wife of Charles Fisher). Born Hitcham, enlisted Ipswich and resident Felixstowe ESS. Commemorated St Sever Cemetery Extension. Q.III.H.10.

HUBBARD	Ernest H	Ernest Harvey Hubbard. Private 23530. 8th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action 1st July 1916. Son of Thomas and Maria Hubbard (nee Harvey). Born 1883 Semer (as census), enlisted Beverley and resident Hornsea YKS. Commemorated Dantzig Alley British Cemetery. V.M.5.
KNOCK	Bertie W	Bertie Willie Knock. Private 32887. 7th Hussars. Died of wounds Mesopotamia 1st November 1918. Son of Maria Louisa Knock (later wife of Arthur Rosier). Born 1891 Hitcham, enlisted Shirehampton GLS and resident Hitcham. Commemorated Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery. V.C.4.
LISTER	Charles H	Charles Harry Lister. Private 240683. 12th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action 24th March 1918. Son of Charles William and Susanna Lister (nee Halls). RUFFELL	Walter B	Possibly incorrect initial and should read Walter William Ruffell. Private 260236. 2/8th Battalion, Worcestershire Regiment. Killed in action 27th August 1917. Son of Charlotte Sarah Ruffell (later wife of Walter Burman). Husband of Florence Maud Ruffell (nee Grimwood) of Water Run, Hitcham (as 1911). Born 1880 Barham, enlisted Sudbury and resident Ipswich. SQUIRRELL	Charles R	Charles Squirrell as 1890 birth record, Charles Robert Squirrell on other records. Sergeant 320709. C Company, 15th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Died King Georges Hospital, Stamford LND of wounds received Palestine 25th February 1918. Son of William and Caroline Squirrell (nee Ramplin). Born and enlisted Hitcham. Commemorated Hitcham (All Saints) Churchyard.
WHYMARK	Robert	Robert Frederick Whymark. Lance Corporal 8892. 1st Battalion, Royal Lancaster Regiment. Died 12th September 1914. Son of Walter and Angelina Whymark (nee Powell). Husband of Jane Whymark (nee Carradus, also known as Jane Clement). Born 1889 Hitcham and enlisted (regular soldier 1911) Harwich ESS. Commemorated Bethencourt Communal Cemetery. C.1.

KNOCK	George W	George William Knock. Gunner 1789302. 86 Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery. Died 24th November 1944. Son of Dennis and Mary Emma Knock (nee Levett). Husband of Ruby E Knock (nee Cuthbert). Born 22nd June 1908 Nedging. Commemorated Swartbroek Churchyard.

REYNOLDS	Arthur C	Arthur Charles Reynolds. Marine CH/X102213, Royal Marines. HMS Arethusa (Light Cruiser, damaged torpedo attack by Italian aircraft 18th November 1942. Survived war). Killed in action 18th November 1942. Son of Charles Robert and Laura Elizabeth Reynolds (nee Scase) of Hitcham. Born 7th December 1922. Commemorated Chatham Naval Memorial. 65.2.
WILLINGHAM	Anthony O	Anthony Owen Willingham. Private 2161294. Army Catering Corps, attached 6th (Airborne) Division. Died 16th July 1945.
