The Mettingham War Memorials are located inside All Saints Church on High Road in the village of Mettingham, Suffolk. There is a First World War Memorial Tablet with dedicated board/plaque listing local men who fell during World War I and a Second World War memorial brass plaque honouring one man. There is also a Boer War Memorial commemorating a local soldier who died in the South African War.

BIRD	Walter	Walter James Bird. Corporal G/18073. 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment, formerly 2082 Suffolk Yeomanry. Killed in action 30th September 1916. Son of James and Martha Bird (nee Bird). Born 1888 Mettingham and enlisted Ely CAM. Commemorated Thiepval Memorial. Pier and Face 11C.
CODLING	Charles	Private 28813. 66th Protection Company, Royal Defence Corps (as CWGC, Soldiers Effects has 100 Protection Company), formerly 23252 Suffolk Regiment. Died of illness Dover 25th August 1916. Son of Thomas and Mary Ann Codling (nee Girling). Husband of Caroline Codling (nee Crisp). Born 1865 Bungay, enlisted Lowestoft and resident Mettingham. Commemorated Mettingham (All Saints) Churchyard.
CRANE	Arthur	Private 235356. 16th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers, formerly 6632 4th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action 8th August 1917. Son of John and Charlotte Crane of Mettingham. Born 1887 Ilketshall St Margaret and enlisted Lowestoft. Commemorated Ramscappelle Road Military Cemetery. I.B.20.
ELLIS	George	Private 43148. 1st Battalion, Norfolk Regiment. Killed in action 4th September 1916. Son of Richard and Emma Ellis (nee Rodgers). Born 1892 Mettingham and enlisted Ditchingham NFK. Commemorated Thiepval Memorial. Pier and Face 1C and 1D.
ELLIS	Harry	Harry Sidney Ellis. Private 87575. 2nd General Hospital, Royal Army Medical Corps. Accidentally drowned while sea bathing 8th July 1918. Son of Richard and Emma Ellis (nee Rodgers). Born 1896 Mettingham, enlisted 16th October 1916 Lowestoft and resident Bungay. Commemorated St Marie Cemetery. Div 62. III.L.4.
GOOCH	Ernest	Ernest Albert Smith as 1890 birth record, Ernest Albert Gooch on other records. Private 17697. 2nd Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in action 31st July 1917. Son of Elizabeth Smith (later wife of Mark Gooch). Born Bungay, enlisted Scarborough YKS and resident Mettingham. Commemorated Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. Panel 33.
HARVEY	Edgar	Edgar William Harvey. Private 43343. 1st Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment, formerly 2849 Norfolk Yeomanry. Died St Thomas Hospital SRY 30th March 1917. Son of John and Hannah Godfrey Harvey (nee Peck) of Mettingham. Husband of Georgina Agnes Harvey (nee Goward). Born 1883 St Michael, South Elmham. Noted as ‘unfit for war service, light duties only by reason of gunshot wound’ on 5th March 1917. Commemorated Wandsworth (Earlsfield) Cemetery. H.21.606.
SERLE	Clifford	Clifford William Searle. Private 203258. 6th Battalion, Northamptonshire Regiment. Killed in action 22nd March 1918. Son of Charles and Alice Searle (nee Honeywood). Born 1898 Bungay and enlisted Lowestoft. Commemorated Pozieres Memorial. Panel 54 to 56.
SOWTER	Cecil	Cecil George Sowter. Lance Corporal 202438. B Company, 4th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action 26th September 1917. Son of Alfred George and Clara Maud Sowter (nee Ferra). Born 1894 Norwich NFK and enlisted Bury St Edmunds. Commemorated Tyne Cot Memorial. Panel 40 to 41.
WHALEY	Edward	Albert Edward Whaley. Private 20207. 7th Battalion, Norfolk Regiment. Killed in action 28th April 1917. Parentage unproven. (Grandson of James and Sarah A Whaley as 1891 census). Husband of Edith Whaley (nee Crickmore, now wife of William Jordan) of Mettingham. Born Plumstead LND (as census) and enlisted Bungay. Commemorated Arras Memorial. Bay 3.

1939-1945. IN PROUD AND LOVING MEMORY OF BRIAN BARKELEY-SMITH WHO LAID DOWN HIS LIFE IN NORTH AFRICA JUNE 6TH 1942, AGED TWENTY ONE YEARS.
BARKELEY-SMITH	Brian	Second Lieutenant 179941. 107 Regiment, Royal Horse Artillery. Killed in action Libya 6th June 1942, aged 21 years. Youngest son of Rupert and Honor Barkeley-Smith (former name unknown, marriage not found) of Red Hose, Mettingham. Born India. Commemorated Knightsbridge War Cemetery. 12.A.21.
